Here's why learning who to trust is crucial

Learning who to trust is essential because it protects you from repeating old patterns, getting stuck in relationships that drain you, and confusing red flags with normal behavior. When you struggle to discern who is safe, you may either isolate yourself out of fear or overextend trust too quickly—both of which can reinforce feelings of powerlessness. Strengthening your discernment allows you to build relationships from a place of confidence and clarity, rather than fear or obligation. You gain the freedom to open up wisely, protect your boundaries, and surround yourself with people who truly support and respect you.

What You'll Learn

For survivors of childhood abuse, discernment isn’t just a helpful skill—it’s a vital one. When your early experiences involved betrayal, manipulation, or boundary violations by people who were supposed to protect you, your internal compass for trust can become distorted. You may find yourself swinging between trusting too quickly and not trusting at all. Discernment is the process of reconnecting with your inner wisdom so you can make grounded, confident decisions about who is safe, who is not, and how to navigate relationships without fear or self-doubt. It’s not about becoming guarded or cynical—it’s about reclaiming your power to choose wisely and protect your peace.

Discover how to...
